Nina Ayala, MA, ATR-P is an Art Therapist with a Master’s of Art in Art Therapy with a concentration in counseling from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College which is accredited by the American Art Therapy Association. Prior to joining Integrative Life Center Nina also works as an Art Therapist for an inpatient psychiatric hospital serving adults needing mental health and dual-diagnosis care. Nina also has over a decade of experience working for a fortune 500 technology company and helped promote mental health wellness in the workplace through team building workshops based on art and meditation.
Nina has loved art since childhood, and growing up in New York City, she had a unique opportunity to study art early while attending an arts focused High School. She became introduced to art as therapy during her first summer role assisting at a hospital in New York City that provided expressive therapy services for the visually impaired. She never forgot the joy of assisting people with limited vision appreciate art through the sense of touch, feeling paintbrush strokes on a canvas, and seeing what were they able to.
Nina believes in the power of creative expression to transform and heal. Nina incorporates mindfulness, positive psychology, strengths-based approach into her art therapy practice. When Nina is not working she can be found practicing yoga, walking through mountain nature trails, or exploring new places while on road trips.
