Anita Johnson

As Executive Director of the Integrative Life Center Eating Disorders Program, Anita brings a wealth of experience to ILC clients. She leads a comprehensive and innovative approach to treating those suffering from disordered eating and co-occurring conditions.

As a nationally recognized expert with more than 35 years in the field, Anita speaks and teaches in settings around the world. A native of Guam, she studied psychology at the University of Guam and completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Colorado. Anita holds two master’s degrees in the field and a doctorate in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology. She created and directed eating disorder programs in Australia, Hawaii and the continental United States.

The author of the acclaimed book, Eating in the Light of the Moon, Anita uses storytelling and metaphor to help individuals discover the issues underlying their eating behaviors. She blends a variety of cognitive-behavioral and depth psychology approaches to achieve lasting behavioral change, moving individuals beyond weight and body image to address the sources of distress.

Anita is the mother of two grown daughters. In her off-work hours, she soothes her soul by gardening.
