Programs Overview

Our Philosophy

The Integrative Life Center (ILC) is a non-residential treatment program designed to help individuals suffering from addictions, eating disorders and other life problems related to trauma using an integrative approach. This approach encompasses mind, body and spirit as we believe the human spirit naturally searches for wholeness and in that quest we often look outside ourselves for what we think is missing.
Recovery Means Transformation at the Integrative Life Center
While stopping the destructive behavior is an essential step, it is not enough. Recovery at ILC is broader and deeper than simply arresting the disease. Transformative recovery is about healing the wounds of the heart, mind and spirit, and about wellness - the choice to assume responsibility for one's quality of life. Wellness begins with a conscious decision to shape a healthy lifestyle; it is a mindset, a decision to adopt a series of key principles in various life areas that lead to high levels of well-being and life satisfaction.
Traveling this recovery road is a process of self-exploration-connecting to the real person. It involves the whole self - the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual parts of oneself. Like the image of a medicine wheel, each quadrant of the circle is an aspect of self. Like any other wheel, life runs a lot smoother when we're balanced.
Physical
Treatment at ILC focuses on balance. We promote healing and wellness by accessing and supporting the body's natural abilities to heal itself. We offer amino acid therapy, nutritional counseling, and outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, canoe trips on the river, high ropes and challenge courses. For the less adventurous we offer walks around the neighborhood and in the local parks. The main thing is to identify what your body needs and being supported in making that an integral part of your life and your recovery.
Emotional
At ILC we introduce the concept of emotional sobriety or raising one's "EQ" or Emotional Intelligence. Emotional sobriety involves learning the difference between what's happening now and what is left over from the past - understanding one's emotions and getting comfortable with them even when they're uncomfortable. We use psychodynamics and process groups, experiential therapies such as art, equine therapy, insight therapy, exploring archetypes and individual sessions with a masters level therapist to help build emotional awareness and sobriety.
Mental
The more fully we embrace life the better our chances of a satisfying recovery. Transformational recovery includes asking the big questions about life and discovering what gives life meaning for each one of us. It's about nurturing a growing awareness of one's thoughts and beliefs and discovering one's own voice and truth. ILC provides opportunities for self-reflection as well as the opportunity to share these discoveries with others.
Spiritual
Spirituality is about living an authentic life - another key to transformational recovery as well. We believe in the power of mindfulness and meditation in the process of coming to self-awareness. Mindfulness and meditation calm the mind and creates the space for communicating with the God of one's understanding - the source of our authenticity. We don't promote any one approach to spirituality. Whether one walks the medicine wheel, climbs the12 Steps, explores Eastern Philosophy and Toltec Teaching or follows Judaism, Christianity or Islam, we will help to walk that path.

Services Provided

Services provided at ILC include the following:

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) for addictions, eating disorders and other life problems related to trauma. This level of care is a 12-15 hour per week program designed for individuals who are medically and psychiatrically stable and do not require detoxification or intensive medical services/interventions. Programming includes groups, individual and family work (as needed). Additional services such as acupuncture, massage, homeopathic assessment, etc. may be encouraged outside of treatment.

IOP may be used as a step down level of care for those who have been in a residential or inpatient treatment program, providing the therapeutic services of inpatient treatment while transitioning back to home. It may also be used to provide individuals with an intensive level of intervention and services, in an effort to prevent residential or inpatient treatment.

Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) for addictions, eating disorders and other life problems related to trauma. PHP is an intermediate level of care offering 20-25 hours per week of programming that includes groups, individual and family work (as needed), sessions with a psychiatric nurse practitioner or psychiatrist and nutritionist as needed, as well as less structured socialization with the other clients. Groups and interventions are based on the needs of the patients within the program. Additional services such as acupuncture, massage, homeopathic assessment, reiki, etc. may be included as a part of treatment.

PHP is often used as a step down level of care for those who have been in an inpatient treatment program, providing the therapeutic services of inpatient treatment while transitioning back to home. It may also be used to provide individuals with an intensive level of intervention and services, in an effort to prevent inpatient treatment.
